Bonus notes · 4 min read

I love a freebie.

I’ll admit it: I like getting something extra. A bonus lands in front of me and I’m interested. Then I open the terms, because the interesting bit is usually hiding there.

John Doe the rabbit exploring a colorful bonus gift

I’m always curious about a bonus or a little gift. It’s fun to find one; it’s less fun to discover later that I misunderstood what came with it.

The word “FREE” is the part meant to catch my eye. Before I click, I want to know what the offer asks me to do in return.

So what do I check before claiming one?

I start with eligibility and any required deposit or action. After that, I look for the expiry date, wagering requirement, game restrictions, and withdrawal conditions. It’s a dull little ritual, but it beats finding out too late that I read the offer wrong.

  1. Check that you qualify and note any required deposit or action.
  2. Write down the expiry and wagering requirement before you claim.
  3. Look for excluded games and withdrawal conditions.

Where do I find the best bonuses?

Bonus lists turn up everywhere: casino promo pages, forums, and review sites. I browse around, but the best offers I’ve personally found have been on CasinoAnalyser. It’s where I tend to start looking. Before claiming, I still check the operator’s terms: offers change, and bonus funds may not be withdrawable cash.

And if the terms read like goblin paperwork?

If I can’t work out the conditions, I leave the offer alone. A gift isn’t much of a gift if I don’t know what I’m agreeing to.

What I do: I save the offer page and expiry date, then read the full terms. “Bonus” doesn’t mean cash I can withdraw.

That’s the whole routine: enjoy finding an offer, check what it actually says, and walk away if the terms don’t add up for me.
